Author/illustrator/musician Mike Artell visited Conn and spoke to grades 3-5. We spent a lot of time with his works and we were ready! He didn't disappoint us. Quickly sharing his bio, he moved into his nonfiction text, then folktales, and finally into his cartooning books. Students were totally engaged, especially when he sat down to draw using a drawing pad tool and his laptop. As he modeled the steps, students took pencil to paper to produce some awesome work. Thank you to Conn PTA, Quail Ridge Books and Music, and Courtyard Crabtree Hotel for sponsoring this event. It was AWESOME!

In addition to reading, I love to play competitive tennis; hike & camp in the mountains; garden and create outdoor art; walk Mocha, my chocolate lab; visit my son in NYC; and learn new things! Archives
