22nd Annual American Indian
Heritage CelebrationSaturday, November 18, 2017 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Musicians, dancers, artists, storytellers, and authors from North Carolina’s eight state-recognized tribes will gather for this popular family event. Named a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, the 22nd Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration offers something for all ages and gives a firsthand opportunity to learn about the state’s American Indian culture (with a population of over 100,000), past and present. Activities include craft demonstrations, hands-on activities, games, foods, and much more. The museum is thrilled to announce that Jana Mashonee, a two-time Grammy nominee and nine-time NAMA winner, will be our opening performer for the fesitval.Jana will perform from 11 to 11:45 a.m. After her performance, she will be available to sign autographs, as well as copies of her new book, American Indian Story: The Adventures of Sha'kona. “Grace for President” Play Friday, October 13–Sunday, October 22Raleigh Little Theatre Presents “Grace for President.” Frustrated by a lack of female faces on a poster of US presidents, Grace decides to be president of her class at school. She seems the likely winner, too—until the most popular boy decides to run. During the race, Grace discovers what it takes to be the best candidate.
