Yesterday a couple came into the media center with a wonderful gift...4 boxes of gently used books! Thank you to the United Methodist Women of Trinity UMC for their generous donation. Their goal is to provide books for students who need them at home for summer reading. The kids will be soooooo excited!

Our Summer Birds reading program is for kids 5-7.
For kids 9+, we're now starting registration for the Summer Kids Book Club. It kicks off Thursday, July 9, at 7:00 p.m. and will run for five Thursdays. There is a $5 fee per child to cover all the sessions (snack provided). Registrants receive a 21% discount on books used in the club. The first book kids will read is Capture the Flag by Kate Messner (Scholastic $6.99). For more info, and to register, visit Summer Kids. Ms. Marshall, public librarian at Richard B. Harrison library on New Bern Ave, visited with Conn first graders today to talk about summer reading and library cards. Did you know that with your public library card you can check out more than 100 books at a time! Wow, you'd need a BIG bag! All public library branches offer AWESOME summer programming for children of all ages! Check out their website for things from book clubs to visiting pigs to gem mining. Maybe I'll see you there! Happy Reading!

In addition to reading, I love to play competitive tennis; hike & camp in the mountains; garden and create outdoor art; walk Mocha, my chocolate lab; visit my son in NYC; and learn new things! Archives
