Musicians, dancers, artists, storytellers, and authors from North Carolina’s eight state-recognized tribes will gather for this popular family event. Named a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, the 22nd Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration offers something for all ages and gives a firsthand opportunity to learn about the state’s American Indian culture (with a population of over 100,000), past and present. Activities include craft demonstrations, hands-on activities, games, foods, and much more.
The museum is thrilled to announce that Jana Mashonee, a two-time Grammy nominee and nine-time NAMA winner, will be our opening performer for the fesitval.Jana will perform from 11 to 11:45 a.m. After her performance, she will be available to sign autographs, as well as copies of her new book, American Indian Story: The Adventures of Sha'kona.
